AMATEUR NIGHT
Have you ever been told "You should tell that story on stage - that's hilarious?" Have you ever wanted to try your hand at the fine art of stand-up comedy?
It's time to get up and show us what you got!
MASON CITY LIMITS AMATEUR NIGHT
The first Wednesday of the month we will open up the comedy stage to all those who feel they have the chops to make us laugh till it hurts!
Next amateur comedian night:
April 7, 2010
Even if you don't want to get up on stage, join us for a great night of comedy with special drink specials!
NO COVER to watch!
Come out to Mason City Limits and support local comedy. What else are you gonna do on a lonely Wednesday night? Laundry? I don't think so....
RULES FOR ENTRY
Please read all rules before entering
- Prove you are funny within the 5 minute limit, and win a chance for stage time during a weekend show
- Amateur night is booked in advance. You must sign up 7 days prior to the show to be eligible. Contact Chris at roadcomic@aol.com. No phone calls please
- Important: Be sure to put "Amateur Night" in the subject line. Include your website, Myspace page, YouTube clips, or any other promo material that will help us determine your order in the show
- If you do not want to be a part of the competition and would still like stage time for new material, please let us know in advance
- We will consider anyone who signs up for the show, however, do not just show up and expect stage time. (Todd Yohn, Dan Chopin, Geech, Lord...this means you too! Maybe.) You must contact Chris by email to be considered
- We want the show to be enjoyable for all who attend so bring your A-Game
- All accepted performers need to be at the club by 7:30 pm for a pre-show meeting. If you can't make the show, please call the club at 217.482.5233. Remember - to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late
- Bring your friends, family - hell, grab a homeless guy and bring them out to the show. If you bring 3 guests, your first drink is on the house!
SHOW RULES
- You get 5 minutes unless otherwise specifically told so
Be ready to go up and know who is going in front of you
After four minutes, we'll give you the red light from the back of the showroom. This light means you have 60 seconds to finish up. That's sixty-seconds from when we flash the light - not from when you see it
If you see two lights, your time is up. Please finish up quickly
If you see two lights (or more) waving around frantically, get off the stage immediately
Do your time and be respectful of your fellow comedians
Clean up after yourself
- If a show is cancelled, we'll contact you ASAP and probably recycle the list for the next show, unless we need fill-in's. If that happens, we will go back to the sign up and start with alternates and work our way to a full show
After your time is up, sit back and enjoy the rest of the comedians. Don't just do your set then take off. Stay after the show to get pointers, potential tag lines, and maybe even hear a story or two from the legend - the former Doc of Comedy Rock, Doc Gonzo.
