Comedian Costaki (Urbana) Economopoulos
Costaki (Urbana) Economopoulos

the biggest name in comedy: Costaki Economopoulos. Costaki is a comedian, true, but he's also a football fan. Those two factors alone make him the perfect candidate to give us a comedic look back at the NFL each week with his new feature that's also been picked up by The Huffington Post and Bleacher Report. Costaki is also a talented joke writer whose punchlines have been heard on The Tonight Show, Showtime, BET, and MTV. Costaki is also a favorite on The Bob & Tom Show. Costaki began his career in the local bars and pizza joint near the University of Georgia while he finished his graduate thesis. His style is quick, smart and topical without being pretentious or divisive and has been described as pointed, hip, sharp, insightful, socially relevant, and gut-laugh funny. With incredible range, Costaki moves easily from a show with teenage Mormons in Utah to a rowdy late show with rednecks in Pensacola. A fellow comic once referred to Costaki as a "casually brilliant joke philosopher." His take on such heavy subjects as the war on terrorism, religion, and gun control will leave you thinking and laughing. Costaki's light swagger, playful squint, and wry smile tell you that perhaps there's more to this multi-layered joke than you first recognized. Costaki has performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival, the Seattle Comedy Festival, and was just one of ten finalists in Comedy Central's Laugh Riots national talent search. After performing on "The Bob and Tom Show" Tom Griswold belted, "Costaki Economopoulos is Greek for funny!" "Picture the MasterCard logo." Costaki has said. "Imagine that red represents truly good funny and yellow is crowd-pleasing, accessible funny. I'm aiming for that little orange slice where they cross. I want two brothers to laugh hard, but I want the smart one to laugh and say, ‘Wow.'"
